This is an important free resource for our school leaders initiated by respected colleagues.

Professor Dame Alison Peacock
Chief Executive of the Chartered College of Teaching and former headteacher

Headrest is a unique wellbeing service, offering an anonymous protected space for colleagues to talk to experienced former headteachers and CEOs. It is this authenticity and shared experience that is key to its success: those at Headrest know what it is like to run a school or trust in challenging times. I would encourage every headteacher to check out this free telephone service – you never know when it might be exactly the support you need.

Sinead McBrearty
Chief Executive of Education Support

Headrest is inspirational. It shows us all that even in the darkest of times the very special people who work in the education sector are always willing to go the extra mile to help each other. We are proud to be associated with Headrest and are grateful that this resource is available to our respected and trusted colleagues.

I just wanted to say how touched I am that there is someone out there with my wellbeing at heart. I am a new headteacher and the pressure is immense. Just knowing you are there makes all the difference. Thank you.

High levels of wellbeing are vital for all schools, but at this time in particular never more so than for leaders. That is why Headrest matters and we are so very pleased to support.

Malcolm Groves
National Director of Schools of Tomorrow

An important service for school leaders at this time.

Sue Williamson
Chief Executive of SSAT

We are really pleased to be able to provide practical help by sponsoring Headrest's free 0800 number to help such a powerful initiative.

Headrest is invaluable because it feels like part of the educational world is putting its arms round you just when you need it most.

Susan Douglas
Chief Executive of Eden Academy Trust

We are very pleased to see this 'pastoral care'. Headteachers need to talk to those who fully understand the pressures of the job and who have some space to listen.

Headteachers' Roundtable

Great to see you both and to talk about the fantastic work you're doing with Headrest. Now more than ever we need the profession uniting in support of one another. Thank you! (via Twitter)

Nick Brook
Deputy General Secretary of the National Association of Headteachers

At this incredibly challenging time for school leaders, Headrest continue to offer their experienced ears in this generous offer to the system.

Tom Rees
Executive Director at Ambition Institute and former headteacher

Governors, Headrest is a great initiative by Ros and Andrew. It needs publicising far and wide. Do let your heads know about this. They are not alone! #ukedchat (via Twitter)

What a fabulous idea.

Tom Sherrington
@TeacherHead and former headteacher

On a purely practical level, headteachers are starting to self-organise and offer each other mutual support. Just last month, a group of ex-heads set up Headrest – a free confidential helpline for school leaders. It's a brilliant idea, and one that's more thoughtful and in-touch than anything the government might have come up with itself.
